Bram Crag Barn
Bram Crag Barn is in Legburthwaite, near the foot of Helvellyn. It's a detached building that used to be a barn. We converted it next to our own house.
It sleeps eight. There are four bedrooms and each one has its own bathroom, which is useful. It's a 5 Star place, which means it's well finished and comfortable.
The main living area is upstairs. We did that so you get the view. You can see Helvellyn, Blencathra, Skiddaw, that sort of thing. It's quiet. There are fields with sheep and the like right outside.
You can walk straight out from the door. Some paths are easy, others go up the fells. The main road is close for driving to Keswick or Penrith, but you don't really hear it.
The nearest pub that does food is about two and a half miles away in Thirlmere. For a shop you'd drive to Keswick, which is about six miles. It's a proper market town with a co-op and places to eat.
Inside, there's underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove. The garden is enclosed. There's parking right there. You can bring one dog. We've included bedding and towels. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, and a travel cot if you need it.
