The Rocking Lodge

The Rocking Lodge is in Scales, just outside Keswick. It's on a working beef and sheep farm. It's a one-bedroom lodge, sleeps two. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable, not a luxury thing.

The main thing is it rocks. Literally. There's a switch inside that makes the whole lodge rock gently back and forth. It's a strange feeling. You'll either love it or think I'm mad for having it installed.

It's compact. One open-plan room with a kitchenette, a sofa, and the bed. The bathroom is off that. It's all on the ground floor. There's a patio area outside with a table and chairs. The view is of Blencathra, which is right there. It's a proper mountain.

You're about a mile from Threlkeld and Scales. There are a couple of pubs there that do food. Keswick is five miles away. That's where you'll find most of the shops, restaurants, and the theatre by the lake. The Keswick Golf Club is directly opposite the turn-off for the farm.

For walks, you're on the lower slopes of Blencathra itself. Latrigg and Catbells are nearby. Derwentwater is a short drive. If you're a serious walker, you've got access to a lot of Wainwright fells from here.

What's here: towels and bedding are included, there's parking right outside, TV, WiFi, and a shower. No pets. It's a single lodge, so you're not sharing walls with anyone.
