Blencathra is a converted barn on our farm, Blakebeck Farm, near Mungrisdale. It's Grade II listed. The layout is upside down, which means you go up to the kitchen and living area. That's where the best views are, over the fields towards the fells. You can see Blencathra itself.
There are two bedrooms and it sleeps four. One bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well-kept and comfortable. The farm is quiet. We've got sheep in the fields, and some alpacas and donkeys too. You're welcome to say hello to them over the fence, just please don't feed them.
You can walk straight from the door. The lanes around here are good for cycling. Keswick is about seven or eight miles away. It's got all the shops and places to eat you'd need, and a leisure centre. Derwentwater is there too. The Borrowdale Valley isn't far for a longer walk.
Ullswater and Thirlmere are a short drive south, maybe twenty minutes. Lots of people go there for the scenery and walking.
There's a shop and a pub in Mungrisdale village, two miles down the road. Keswick Golf Course is about a mile and a half away.
For facilities: you've got a washing machine, dishwasher, an enclosed garden with a patio and a BBQ, and parking right outside. WiFi is there. We can provide a cot, highchair and stairgate if you need them. One well-behaved dog is welcome. There's also a shared games room in another building on the farm with a pool table and table tennis.
This place can be booked together with the cottage next door, The Garth, if you've got a bigger group.
