Rowanburn Lodge is in Lamonby, near Penrith. It's a detached lodge overlooking Duke's Pond. There are a few other lodges nearby but it's quiet. You get your own decked area at the front.
It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one is ensuite to the main bedroom. It has a 4 Star rating. It's modern and warm, with underfloor heating on the ground floor.
The big thing here is the wildlife. Red squirrels come right up to the deck. There's a box with food for them. You'll see deer and lots of birds too. The view from the sitting room looks out over fields toward Blencathra.
It's a good spot for getting around. Keswick is about 20 minutes' drive, Penrith is 15 minutes. Ullswater is maybe 25 minutes. Carlisle is half an hour the other way. The local villages, Greystoke and Caldbeck, have nice pubs. The nearest shop and pub are in Greystoke, about four miles.
For walking, you're right next to Greystoke Forest. The northern fells like Blencathra and Skiddaw are easily accessible. For a big day out, National Trust has a few places like Acorn Bank near Penrith, or you can drive down to Ullswater and catch a steamer.
Things it has: parking right outside, a washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. It's suitable for toddlers, we have a cot and highchair. Up to two dogs are welcome. The garden is enclosed.
