Peacock

Peacock is one of two cottages on the same plot, out near Morton. It's detached. You get the whole place to yourselves, of course. It's set back from the road in its own bit of ground, looking out over farm fields.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms. One is a king with an en-suite, the other is a twin. It's a 4 Star, so it's comfortable and well fitted. The main living space is open plan. Big windows look out onto the deck.

The deck has a hot tub. You can see the fells from it, Blencathra and the like. There's a barbecue out there too. The garden is shared with the other cottage, Pheasant, but it's big enough that you won't be on top of each other.

You're right on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Ullswater is about a twenty minute drive. You can get on the steamer there from Pooley Bridge. For walking, you've got all the northern fells close by. Helvellyn isn't far.

Penrith is the nearest proper town, about ten minutes in the car. Shops, supermarkets, a few places to eat. For a day out, Lowther Castle is close. Hutton in the Forest is nearby too. Both have events sometimes.

Practical things: there's parking right outside. Wifi, washing machine, dishwasher, all included. Bedding and towels are provided. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets.

Useful links: Lake District National Park for walking and driving routes, and English Heritage for Hadrian's Wall if you're heading that way. It's about an hour's drive.
