Rushgill House

Rushgill House is near Skelton Wood End. It's about nine miles from Penrith, on the quieter northern side of the Lake District. It's a 17th century farmhouse, so the walls are thick and the floors aren't level. It's detached and you've got the gardens to yourselves.

It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms which helps. It's a 3 Star rating, so think comfortable and lived-in, not pristine and new. It's a proper old house.

You get a big kitchen with a table, a separate dining room, and a living room with a large fireplace. There's a woodburning stove. The utility room is good for boots and dogs. The stairs are cottage stairs, a bit uneven.

The garden has a lawn, a terrace, and views over the fields. There's a badminton set and space for a kickabout. You can bring up to four dogs.

For a pub or shop, you'll need to drive. It's a quiet spot. Ullswater is about 20 minutes away. Keswick is about the same. The northern Lakes are good for avoiding the busier crowds.

Facilities: there's WiFi, a TV, washing machine, dishwasher, cot and highchair. Bedding and towels are included. Parking for a couple of cars. The electricity is included.
