Larchwood is near the village of Lamonby, about four miles east of Penrith. It's a detached timber lodge, so it's on its own. It's right on the edge of a forest, mostly larch trees.
It sleeps six people in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, which makes things a bit easier with that many people. It's got a 4 Star rating so it's comfortable and in good order.
The main thing is the wildlife. You get red squirrels in the trees around the lodge. They are regular visitors. We leave nuts in the shed you can put out for them if you want. You'll see roe deer and quite a lot of birds too. The back of the lodge looks directly over Duke's Pond.
There's a decent amount of outside space. Gardens at the front and sides, and a wooden decking area at the back. It's all private. You can have a barbecue there.
Inside it's open plan. There's a washing machine, a dishwasher, Wi-Fi and a TV. The entrance and the main living space are all on one level with no steps, so it's accessible for wheelchairs. We can provide a cot and a highchair.
You can bring up to two dogs. There's bicycle storage if you need it.
The nearest shop and pub are in Greystoke, about four miles away. That's also where you'll find Greystoke Castle. The other way, you've got the villages of Caldbeck and Mungrisdale, both have good walking from them.
You're in a good spot for getting around. Penrith is ten minutes by car, Keswick is about twenty minutes, and Ullswater is maybe fifteen. Carlisle is half an hour away if you need the train station or bigger shops.
