Ellerton Croft is called that because it's on a farm, Mellguards Farm. It's a detached stone house in Mellguards, Cumbria. It's on a working farm, so you'll see sheep and probably hear tractors.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms. The rating is 5 Star. It was all done up a couple of years ago, so everything's in good order.
The kitchen is big, with a table for everyone. The sitting room has doors out to the garden and a woodburner for the evening. There's a hot tub in the garden.
You're right out in the country here. There's a local pub within a few miles. The main thing is the location for getting about. You're close to the M6, so it's easy for people coming from north or south. Carlisle is about twenty minutes away. Penrith is maybe twenty-five.
You can get into the Lake District National Park in under half an hour. Things like Keswick, Ullswater, and the northern fells are all within a reasonable drive. Hadrian's Wall is about half an hour east. Scotland is just over the border, maybe forty-five minutes to an hour to Gretna or up towards Dumfries.
For facilities, it's all there. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's on-site parking. We allow one dog. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
If you're planning days out, these sites are useful: Lake District National Park, National Trust Lake District, and English Heritage for Hadrian's Wall.
