Old Reading Room

The Old Reading Room is in Cotehill, in the Eden Valley. It used to be the village reading room, which is just what it sounds like, then it got turned into a house. We did it all up in 2021, so everything's new and works properly. It's detached, so no neighbours on the other side of the wall.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. The whole downstairs is open plan. There's a woodburning stove. We leave you some logs to get you started.

The village pub is about a hundred yards away. They do food. The nearest shop is a couple of miles in Cumwhinton, so it's worth picking things up on your way. You've got parking right outside.

Location is the main thing here. You're right in the middle of everything. The Lake District is about twenty minutes west. The North Pennines are to the east. Hadrian's Wall is basically on your doorstep, you can be at Birdoswald Fort in fifteen minutes. Scotland is less than an hour's drive if you fancy a day trip.

Facilities: it's all there. Wifi, TV, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We accept one well-behaved dog.
