The Old Dairy Cottage is in Ainstable. It's a detached place, used to be a dairy, obviously. We did it up in 2023. Sleeps two people, one bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating.
Everything is on the ground floor. It's open plan. The bedroom has a big bit of the old stone wall showing. There are some beams. The windows and the little conservatory look out over the fields. You get the garden to yourselves, it's enclosed.
We're on the edge of the village. It's quiet. The pub does food. Good walking starts right from the door, on the lanes or down by the River Eden, which is about a mile away.
Armathwaite is just over a mile. You can get the train from there, the Settle to Carlisle line. The views from that train are very good. Carlisle is about half an hour by car, or you can get the train. They've got the castle and shops.
You can drive to Hadrian's Wall in under half an hour. The Lake District is about the same, maybe 40 minutes to the northern bits like Penrith or Ullswater. If you go the other way, you're in Scotland in 20 minutes. The Solway coast and Dumfries and Galloway are that way.
Facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, WiFi, a TV. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog. There's space to store bikes.
