The Coach House

The Coach House is in Cotehill, north of Carlisle. It's a detached place, used to be the coach house for the big farm. You get the whole garden to yourselves. It's pretty quiet here.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but not luxurious. It's warm, which is good because it can get chilly up here.

The main thing is the trains. The Settle to Carlisle railway line runs at the bottom of the field. You can sit with a cuppa and watch the steam trains go past. It's quite something.

There's a shop and a pub about a mile and a half away in the village. They're fine for basics. You'll probably drive into Carlisle for a big shop.

Carlisle is about ten minutes by car. The castle is worth a look if you like history, and there are decent shops. Brampton is a nice little town too, not far.

You're really well placed here. Hadrian's Wall is close by for walks. The Northern Lakes are half an hour or so – Keswick, Penrith, Ullswater. You can even nip into Scotland, Gretna Green is about twenty minutes up the road.

It's got a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and parking right there. The garden is enclosed. You can bring one dog.
