Church View
Church View is in Threlkeld, a village towards the north end of the Lake District. It's a cottage, right on the street. The name is accurate, you look out at the church.
It sleeps six people in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs. That's useful. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-kept. It was fully renovated a few years ago, so things like the heating and the kitchen work properly, but they kept the old beams and the fireplace.
The wood burning stove is the main source of heating downstairs. It works well. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you're bringing dogs. You can have up to two dogs.
Threlkeld itself is small. There are two pubs, both serve food. The village hall does teas and cakes sometimes. The big thing here is the walking. You can step out the door and be on a path. Blencathra is right there, looming over the village. It's a proper mountain, one of the famous ones.
Keswick is about ten minutes away by car. That's where you'll find the big supermarkets, more places to eat, and the boat trips on Derwentwater. The A66 road runs nearby, which makes getting to Penrith or the M6 motorway straightforward.
For planning days out, the official sites are good. Lake District National Park has all the walking routes and parking info. National Trust Lake District covers their properties, like Acorn Bank or Wordsworth House.
Facilities: WiFi is included, all bedding and towels are provided, and there's a cot if you need one. Parking is on the street outside, you usually can find a space.
