Church View is in Threlkeld, a village just off the A66. It looks out, as you'd expect, at the church. It's a stone cottage, one of the ones in the middle of the row.
It sleeps six people in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It has a 4 Star rating. It was renovated a few years ago. They kept the beams and fireplace but put in things like central heating and a decent shower.
The wood burning stove works. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you have dogs. Speaking of which, we do take pets, up to two.
Threlkeld sits right under Blencathra. You can walk straight out of the door onto the fells. The village has two pubs, both serve food. There's also a tea room in the village hall.
Keswick is about ten minutes away by car. You've got the theatre by the lake, the market, and the usual shops. You can drive around Derwentwater or walk up Latrigg easily from there.
For a bigger day out, Penrith is twenty minutes east, and Ullswater is maybe half an hour. The northern lakes are quieter, in my opinion. The National Trust looks after a lot of places around here, like Aira Force. The Lake District National Park site is good for walking routes.
