This is Latrigg View. As the name says, you can see Latrigg from it. It's in a normal street in Keswick, about five minutes' walk from the town centre and the park. It's handy for popping out for a pint of milk.
It's an upside-down house. You walk into the bedrooms and bathroom on the ground floor. The living room and kitchen are upstairs. We did it up a few years ago because the view is better from up there. You can sit and look at the fells over the rooftops.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable. You get Wi-Fi, a TV, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
The stairs are a bit steeper than normal house stairs, just because it's a cottage. They're fine, but you need to watch your step.
For a walk, you can be on Latrigg in about twenty minutes from the door. It's an easy climb and gives you a good view back down over Keswick and Derwentwater. You're right on the edge of the fells here. For a bigger day, Skiddaw is just behind it.
Keswick has everything you need: shops, pubs, a market, a cinema, and a swimming pool. Derwentwater is a ten-minute walk. You can get the launch boats from there.
Within half an hour's drive you've got places like Grasmere, Borrowdale, and Ullswater. Castlerigg Stone Circle is up the road. For planning, the National Trust Lake District site and the Lake District National Park Authority websites are useful.
