It's a ten minute walk down to the edge of Derwentwater. You can catch the Keswick Launch from there. It's a good way to see the lake without driving. The marina is there too if you want to hire a canoe or a rowing boat.
Keswick town centre is about a mile and a half by road. You can also walk across the fields, which takes about half an hour. They've got all the shops and cafes you'd need there.
