Cottam Road

Cottam Road is a studio flat in Threlkeld, Cumbria. It’s part of a row of cottages. I had it done up a few years back.

It’s for two people, one room really. A bed, a small kitchen area, a table and a bathroom off to the side. It’s got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and everything works. The main thing is the view. The big windows look straight out at the fells. You can see Blencathra from the bed.

The garden out the back is private and gets the sun. There’s a shared shed round the side with a boot room for wet coats and boots, which is handy.

Threlkeld is a quiet village. There are two pubs that do food, about a ten minute walk. The shop is a drive away, in Keswick really. Keswick is about five miles. It’s a proper town with shops, places to eat, a theatre by the lake. The pencil museum is there if that’s your thing.

For walking, you’re right on the lower slopes of Blencathra. You can drive to Thirlmere or St John’s in the Vale in a few minutes. The stone circle at Castlerigg is a short drive from Keswick. The Threlkeld Quarry and Mining Museum is two miles away, they do train rides and tours.

Inside, it’s all one space so it’s open plan. There’s a shower, a washing machine, TV and WiFi included. The parking is on site. It’s all on the ground floor and the entrance is level, so it’s accessible if you need that.
