Uncle's Cottage
Uncle's Cottage is in Keswick town centre. It's called that because my uncle owned it before me. We did it up a few years ago. It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom upstairs.
The main thing is the location. It's 200 yards from the main bus stop, so you can get here by train to Penrith and then the bus. Shops, pubs and restaurants are right outside. You don't need the car once you're here.
The living area is open plan downstairs, with leather sofas and the kitchen. Upstairs, we raised the ceilings so you can see the beams. The stairs are steep, just so you know.
You can walk straight from the door into the hills. Latrigg is an easy one to start with. Skiddaw is a bigger day out.
Derwentwater is a ten minute walk. You can get the launches from there. Borrowdale and Buttermere are about a fifteen minute drive. The National Trust looks after a lot of the land around here.
It's got a 4 Star rating. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding is included. There's one parking space on site. You can bring one dog.
