The Hoggest is just outside Threlkeld village. The views are the main thing. You can see Blencathra from the front, and St John's in the Vale from the back. It's a detached stone house, converted from a farm building.
It’s got four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Sleeps eight. It's a 5 Star place, so it's very well done up. The living room has those big sliding doors that open right up to the garden. There's a wood burner if you want a fire. The kitchen is open plan with a big table.
There’s a hot tub in the garden. The garden is yours, with parking. It’s got all the things you’d expect like a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.
You can walk straight out onto the fells. The village is a short walk. There are two pubs there, both do food. Keswick is about a ten minute drive for bigger shops and more places to eat.
If you’re planning days out you’re right on the edge of the national park. Lake District National Park has all the information on walking routes and things to do. For historical sites nearby, English Heritage has a list.
