Lucy's Lodge is in Scales, which is on the eastern side of the Lake District, between Penrith and Keswick. It's a detached wooden lodge on a working farm. It's on the lower slopes of Blencathra, which is a big fell that dominates the view.
The lodge sleeps two. One bedroom upstairs, one shower room downstairs. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. The stairs up to the bedroom are more like a ladder, really. They're steep. You need to be okay with that.
It's open plan downstairs. Kitchen, breakfast bar, and a sofa area. The patio outside is south-facing, so it gets the sun. There's a hot tub. The farm is beef and sheep, so you'll see and hear animals. It's a proper farm.
The village of Scales is about a mile away. There's a pub there. Threlkeld is close too, with another pub. Keswick is about five miles. That's where you'll find most of the shops, cafes, and other pubs.
For walking, you're right at the bottom of Blencathra. You can start from the door. Skiddaw and Helvellyn aren't far by car. Derwentwater is near Keswick. If you don't want to walk up a mountain, there are plenty of lower-level paths along the valleys and lakes.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, WiFi, TV, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. The entrance is level, but the shower is upstairs and the toilet is downstairs, so it's not fully wheelchair accessible inside.
