Ivy House
Ivy House is in Matterdale End, up towards Ullswater. It's a detached house on the fellside, right next to the Cumbrian Way, so you can walk straight out onto the paths.
It sleeps eight in four bedrooms. They're all doubles, and they all have their own ensuite bathroom. The one at the back has a copper bath, which is a bit unusual. It's been fully renovated, so everything works properly. It's got a 4 Star rating.
There's a big living room and a second sitting room which is handy if you've got kids with you. The kitchen diner is good sized and opens out to the garden. There's a hot tub out there, undercover.
Facilities are what you'd expect: TV, wifi, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's on-site parking. We accept one well-behaved dog.
The nearest pub is about two and a half miles away, in Dockray. It's a proper local walkers' pub.
You're about a ten minute drive from Ullswater for sailing or boat trips. Aira Force waterfall is nearby. Penrith is about twenty minutes by car for shops. If you want a day out, places like Rheged or Dalemain house are within half an hour.
The main thing is the location. You get the views across the valley, and you don't have to drive to start a good walk.
