Ivy House

Ivy House is in Matterdale End. That’s near Penrith, up past Ullswater. It's a detached house on the fell side. The views across the valley are good.

It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, all doubles, each with its own bathroom. The one at the back has a copper bath. There's a 4 Star rating. Everything was redone a couple of years ago so it’s in good order.

Downstairs it’s spacious. There’s a big living room, and a second sitting room that’s handy if kids want their own space. The kitchen opens onto the garden, which has a hot tub and a patio area.

You can walk straight out onto the fells from the door. The Cumbrian Way is right there. Dockray village is a short distance away, about a twenty minute walk, and it has a pub. Ullswater is close for sailing or boat trips. National Trust Ullswater has details on walking and Aira Force waterfall.

For a day out, Lowther Castle & Gardens or Dalemain are nearby. Penrith has shops and a castle. Rheged is a decent wet-weather option. Keswick, Pooley Bridge, and Glenridding are all within a thirty minute drive for more walking or cafes.

Facilities: The garden is yours to use. There’s parking on site, a washing machine, dishwasher, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We can take one dog.
