Aira Cottage
Aira Cottage is in Knotts, Cumbria. It's a detached stone barn conversion. You've got your own garden, and it's got views across the fields towards the lake.
It sleeps four people in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. The main thing is it's spacious and comfortable. There's an open-sided barn at the side with a table tennis table and a dartboard.
A little river runs through the woods right in front of the cottage. There's an old packhorse bridge over it. The field across from you leads straight down to the edge of Ullswater, less than five minutes' walk. You can fish there if you have a permit. The views of the fells from there are very good.
You're right in the middle of National Trust land. You can start walking from the door. Helvellyn is the big one nearby, and you can tackle Striding Edge if you're experienced. For something less demanding, the lakeshore path is lovely.
Glenridding is about three miles away. Pooley Bridge is six miles. You can get the steamer from either place to travel up and down the lake, which is a nice way to see it. The nearest shop is in Glenridding. There's a pub and a restaurant about a mile and a half away.
In terms of what's here: there's a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, a washing machine, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. The electricity is part of the price. You can bring up to three dogs. There's parking right outside.
