Brothersfield Cottage

Brothersfield Cottage is in Hartsop, up at the north end of Ullswater. It's a big stone house, detached, originally from the 1700s. It sits right by Brotherswater, on the road between Ullswater and Ambleside, just before Kirkstone Pass starts.

It sleeps up to ten people in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well equipped and comfortable.

The setting is the main thing. It's surrounded by fells. You can walk straight out of the door onto paths. It's between the Helvellyn and High Street mountain ranges, so the scenery is very dramatic.

Ullswater is a short drive away. In summer, you can get the steamer from Glenridding up the lake to Howtown and Pooley Bridge. Ambleside is about six miles for shops and cafes. Windermere is about fifteen miles, Keswick a bit further.

There's a pub that does food about half a mile away. The nearest shop is in Patterdale, about three miles.

For facilities: there's a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and parking on site. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. No pets, sorry.

A couple of useful links if you're planning walks or days out: Lake District National Park and for the Ullswater steamers, Ullswater Steamers.
