Waterfall Wood Cottage is on the hillside above Glenridding village. The waterfall is right there, you can hear it from the garden. It's stone-built, like most round here.
It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It has a 5 Star rating, which means it's well done up, not just basic. There's underfloor heating downstairs so it's cosy.
The garden is enclosed. You get a good view down the valley from it. There's parking for two cars on the drive.
The location is the main thing. You're on a proper walking path straight from the door. You can walk up Helvellyn or St Sunday Crag without getting in the car. For a shorter walk, you can stroll down into Glenridding in about ten minutes. There's a shop and a couple of pubs there.
Ullswater lake is at the bottom of the hill. The Ullswater Steamers leave from there. Aira Force waterfall is a few minutes' drive up the lake road.
For things further afield, Keswick is about a 30-minute drive. Penrith and the M6 are about 40 minutes. The National Trust looks after a lot of the local land, and the Lake District National Park site has walking maps.
Inside, it's got what you'd need: a wood burner, dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
