Barn End
Barn End is near Watermillock, on the quieter north side of Ullswater. It's a detached stone barn conversion on its own land. The garden's about an acre, mostly grass, with views over the fields to the lake.
It sleeps seven in four bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower over the bath. The rating is 4 Star, which is about right. It's comfortable and well looked after. The main room is big, with the original beams and a woodburning stove. It's a good size for a family.
The garden is enclosed, which is useful. There's a patio by the house. The shed at the bottom is lockable, so you can put bikes or canoes in there.
You can walk down to the lake shore in a few minutes. Aira Force waterfall is about a mile and a half away on foot, up through the woods. The path starts from the road end. The National Trust looks after it. There are a couple of pubs within a mile or so that do food.
Pooley Bridge is about a ten minute drive for shops and the Ullswater Steamers pier. Keswick is roughly twenty five minutes by car. Penrith for the station and supermarkets is about twenty minutes.
Facilities: Everything you'd expect is there. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking for a couple of cars on the drive. You can bring up to two dogs.
