Chapel Cottage

Chapel Cottage is in Helton, on the edge of the Lake District. It's an old place, from the 1700s. Detached, so no neighbours through the walls. The garden is fully enclosed, which is good if you've got dogs or kids.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. The main thing is the view. You get a proper panoramic look out over the fields and the fells from the back. We keep a bird feeder out there. You get red squirrels coming down for it, which is nice to watch.

Inside, it's a cottage. The ceilings are low in places if you're tall. There's a woodburning stove for cold nights. It has a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside.

You can walk straight from the door onto the fells. Ullswater and Haweswater are both close by for water or walks. The steamer trips on Ullswater are a good way to see the lake. Aira Force waterfall is worth a visit too.

Askham village is about a mile down the road. It has two pubs and a village shop. Penrith is a ten minute drive for bigger supermarkets.

For a day out, Lowther Castle has big gardens to wander. Dalemain is a historic house. If the weather's bad, the Lakeland Bird of Prey Centre is under cover.

You can bring up to two dogs. We provide a stairgate and a highchair.
