Primrose Bank

Primrose Bank is our old barn we converted a few years ago. It's in Sockbridge, a quiet village. It's detached, so no neighbours on the other side of the wall.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. That's useful with a full house. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's properly comfortable, not just a basic let.

The conversion was thorough. The stairs are new-build standard, so they're not the steep cottage kind. There's underfloor heating downstairs, which is good in winter, and a woodburning stove in the sitting room for the evenings.

You've got a decent private garden. It gets the sun in the afternoon. There's parking for two cars right next to the house.

The village is quiet. The nearest pub is in Tirril, about a ten minute walk down the lane. They do food and have a small shop. There's another good pub a mile away in Yanwath.

You're three miles from Pooley Bridge at the top of Ullswater. That's where you'll find shops, cafes, and boat trips. You can get down to the lake shore from there. It's a good spot for sailing or hiring a rowing boat.

For walking, you're right on the edge of the fells. You can be up on Barton Fell or walking round the lake without having to drive into the main tourist crowds. For a bigger day out, Keswick is about 40 minutes by car, and Windermere about 50.

Facilities: we've included all the things you'd hope for. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. We allow two well-behaved dogs.
