The Garth is a detached sandstone house in Penrith. It's on a normal residential street, not in the countryside. You can walk into the town centre in about ten minutes, which is the main point of it.
It sleeps eight, in four bedrooms. Three are upstairs and one is a twin room on the ground floor. There are three bathrooms in total, one of which is a wet room on the ground floor. That makes it quite practical. It has a 4 Star rating.
The house is light because it has windows on all sides. The living room is big, with a large TV. The dining room is separate. The kitchen is modern and has what you need. There's a utility room too.
The garden wraps around the house. It's got a patio, some plants, and a couple of small ponds. There are views to the fells from there. You can park on the driveway.
Penrith itself is useful. Lots of pubs and places to eat. Shops are a mix of chains and independents. There's a big supermarket about a mile away, and the train station is a twenty minute walk.
You're right on the edge of the Lake District. Ullswater is about a fifteen minute drive. You can get the steamer from there. Lowther Castle is nearby if you like gardens and history. The Rheged Centre is a few miles away and is good for a wet day, especially with kids. It has a cinema.
For walks and planning, the Lake District National Park website is useful.
In terms of what's here: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine, bedding and towels are included. It's all on one level once you're in, and the entrance is wheelchair accessible. There's bike storage. No pets.
