The Cowshed is near Penrith. It's a converted farm building, so it's stone and pretty solid. It's on our farm, but it's separate and private. You get a small patio area with a table.
It sleeps two people. There are two bedrooms, but they're both quite small with single beds. It works if you're friends or you don't mind separate rooms. One bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and everything works.
The stairs to the bedrooms are steep and a bit narrow. Just so you know.
You can bring one well-behaved dog. There's a bit of garden, but it's not fully enclosed so you'd need to keep an eye on them. We've got fields all around for walks.
Penrith is about a ten minute drive. It's a proper market town with supermarkets, a few shops, and pubs. There's a train station there too if you're coming by train. From the cottage, you can be in the northern Lakes in under twenty minutes. Ullswater is closest. Pooley Bridge is a nice spot to start from.
If you want a big day out, Lowther Castle is about fifteen minutes away. The castle is a ruin but the grounds and adventure play area are really something. Lowther Castle. For a proper walk, you can drive up to Aira Force waterfall. It's National Trust and well signposted. Aira Force.
For facilities, you've got a washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. We can provide a travel cot if you need it. There's a bike shed if you bring cycles.
