The Cowshed
The Cowshed is near Penrith, which is in the Eden Valley and on the edge of the Lake District. It's a converted farm building on our property, so we're nearby if you need anything, but it's all your own space.
It sleeps two people in a double bedroom. There's a second, single bedroom we keep set up as a reading room with a chair and books. Good if one of you snores. One bathroom with a shower over the bath.
We allow one well-behaved dog. There's an enclosed patio garden they can use, but watch them near the gate.
It's a 4 Star property. That means it's comfortable and well equipped. There's heating, a washing machine, and WiFi. The TV has a smart box so you can log into your own streaming services. Bedding and towels are provided. There's a cot in the cupboard for a baby.
For a proper Lake District day, you're about a 25 minute drive from Ullswater. Pooley Bridge is the village at the bottom end. Further afield, Keswick and Windermere are roughly 45 minutes. Penrith itself has supermarkets, pubs, and a train station.
The Eden Valley is good for cycling if you're into that. We have bike storage. For a shorter walk, Beacon Hill in Penrith is an easy climb with good views.
