Amber Nook
Amber Nook is a lodge in Glen Dowlin, Cumbria. There are a few other lodges nearby but it’s quiet here. You get a decent bit of privacy.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. We take up to two dogs. The rating is 4 Star, so it’s comfortable and well looked after.
The lodge itself is straightforward. There’s a patio area with garden furniture and a barbecue. Inside you’ve got a TV, WiFi, a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We have a cot and a highchair if you need them.
You’re four miles north of Ullswater here. It’s good walking country straight from the door. For a proper day out, you can drive to places like Aira Force waterfall, or get on one of the Ullswater steamers. The historic town of Penrith isn’t far, and the Rheged Centre is worth a visit if the weather turns.
For wider planning, the main sites are useful: Lake District National Park and National Trust Lake District.
