Smithy Cottage
Smithy Cottage is in Stainton, Cumbria. It's an old cottage, from the 1700s. It's been done up but it still feels like a cottage. There's a wood burner in the inglenook fireplace, which is good for colder evenings.
It sleeps four people. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, not luxurious.
The village pub is a couple of minutes walk away. It's popular. Penrith is about ten minutes by car for supermarkets and other shops. The Rheged Discovery Centre is within walking distance too.
For the Lakes, you're well placed. Ullswater and Pooley Bridge are only a few miles away. You can get on the lake, or walk from there. Keswick is a short drive in the other direction.
The whole area is good for walking and cycling. You've got the Lake District National Park on the doorstep. Places like Beatrix Potter's house at Hill Top or Dove Cottage are within a thirty minute drive if that's your sort of thing.
What's here: There's a washing machine, bedding and towels are included, WiFi, and an enclosed garden. You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking.
