Crescent Cottage is in Askham, Cumbria. It's a two-up-two-down end-terrace cottage from the 1770s. It's listed, so it's old and a bit creaky, but it's properly looked after. It sleeps two, but there are two small double bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating.
It's in the Lowther Castle Estate. The whole village was designed by an architect, so all the sandstone cottages are set around these shared green courtyards. It's a quiet spot. You've got a small enclosed garden out the back.
The main thing is the location. You're in the Lake District National Park but just on the edge of the fells. Ullswater is about ten minutes by car. Keswick is maybe twenty. Penrith is four miles away for supermarkets and the train station.
Lowther Castle itself is right there. You can walk to it. The grounds are massive and good for a wander. They have events sometimes, like a music festival in summer.
Facilities: it's got a wood burner, dishwasher, washing machine, wifi, and TV. Parking is on site. You can bring one dog. Bedding and towels are included.
If you're planning walks or visits, the Lake District National Park site is useful, and National Trust for Lowther Castle.
