The Old Bothy
The Old Bothy is in Knotts, near Ullswater. It's semi-detached and made from stone, built around 1750. It's up on a bit of a slope, so the views over to the fells are pretty good.
It sleeps six people. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and warm, and we've tried to keep some of the old character. The stairs are a cottage stair, so they are steep and a bit narrow.
There's a pub about a mile down the road. The nearest proper shop is three miles away in Glenridding or Pooley Bridge. The cottage is right between those two villages, so you can walk down to the lake from either side.
You can get to Windermere by car over the Kirkstone Pass. It's a good drive, but take it slow.
Facilities: there's a woodburning stove, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and WiFi. The garden is enclosed. Parking is right outside. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and a highchair if you need them.
