The Old Bothy
The Old Bothy is in Knotts. It's up a track, off the main road. You look down over Ullswater and across to the fells. The view is the main thing about it.
It's an old place, mid-1700s stone built. It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bathroom is downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after.
The track is shared, so you might see a neighbour's car going past. The garden is yours though. It's enclosed. There's a wood burner for cooler evenings. We leave wood for you.
The nearest pub is just over a mile away. You can walk there along the road, but you'll need a torch back. For a shop you need to drive to Glenridding or Pooley Bridge. Both are about three miles, in opposite directions.
If you want to get on the water, Ullswater Steamers leave from Glenridding pier. For a longer walk, you can get the steamer to Howtown and walk back along the shore path.
You're right in the Lake District National Park. It's all walking. For a shorter drive, Windermere is over Kirkstone Pass. That road is steep and can be closed in bad winter weather, so check.
Inside, it's got what you'd need. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Parking for two cars on the gravel. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
