High Rake
This is High Rake. It's in Glenridding, right in the middle of the Lakes. It's an end-terrace stone cottage built into the side of the hill.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. Gets a three star. It's got the basics. It's cosy, it's clean. The views are the point. You can see straight out over the valley and the fells from the front. The Ullswater Beck runs past the garden.
You're on the edge of the village here. There's a pub and a shop five minutes walk down the road. You can be on the path up Helvellyn from the door in about ten minutes, if that's your thing. If you want to be on the water, you can hire boats at the pier. The steamer leaves from there too, goes to Pooley Bridge and past Aira Force. It's a good way to see the lake.
You can drive over Kirkstone Pass to get to Ambleside and Windermere. That's about half an hour. Keswick is about the same the other way.
It's got parking for one car. Wi-Fi, washing machine, all the bedding and towels are there. No pets.
For planning, the Lake District National Park site is useful.
