Cheery Nook is an old stone barn in Matterdale End. It's a hamlet, so it's quiet. The views from the garden are good, just fields and fells.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms and three bathrooms, all on the ground floor. The living room is upstairs. The stairs aren't bad, but they're original. There's a wood burner in the lounge.
The kitchen has a slate island and all the usual things. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. We provide bedding and towels. You can bring up to two dogs.
It's got a 4 Star rating which means it's well equipped and comfortable. But it's a barn conversion, so the layout is a bit different.
You can get to Ullswater in about ten minutes by car. Keswick is maybe twenty minutes. The M6 is close, so it's easy to get to Penrith or up towards Scotland.
It's a good base for walking. You can get onto the fells straight from the door. For organised trips, National Trust Ullswater has details on the steamer and Aira Force. Lake District National Park is the main site for maps and planning.
Facilities: enclosed garden, parking, WiFi, cot and highchair. The shower is a walk-in type.
