This is Katellen Cottage. It's in Threlkeld, a small village a few miles outside Keswick. It's a detached cottage. You'll have the garden to yourselves. It looks out over fields towards Blencathra.
It sleeps six. Two bedrooms and a sofa bed in the living room. One bathroom on the ground floor. The shower is a walk-in wet room. It’s got a 4 Star rating. The ceilings are quite high in the main room, with some of the original beams showing.
We’ve opened up the living room, dining and kitchen into one space. There’s a multi-fuel stove in there. The stairs are fine. Floors are oak, so they can be a bit noisy.
You can store up to four bikes round the back. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have kids or dogs. We take up to two pets.
The facilities are what you’d expect: a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. We include bedding and towels. There’s a cot and highchair there if you need them.
The village has a couple of pubs about a mile and a quarter away by road, or you can walk it in a mile. The Threlkeld Quarry and Mining Museum is just along the road, maybe 100 yards. They’ve got a little train and you can pan for gold.
For walking, you’re right in it. Thirlmere reservoir is about four miles away and that’s at the bottom of Helvellyn. For cycling, there are plenty of routes nearby, both on-road and off.
Keswick is five miles. That’s where you’ll find the main shops, places to eat, and things like the Pencil Museum or the theatre. Castlerigg Stone Circle is on the way into Keswick. Keswick Golf Club is about a mile and a half from here.
