Shepherds Bield is a one-bedroom apartment on our farm in Scales. It's attached to our farmhouse, but you have your own door. It sleeps two, and the rating is 3 Star, so it's comfortable and clean.
The layout is upside down. You come in on the middle floor to the bedroom and shower room. The stairs go down to the living area and kitchen. The sofa is one of those electric recliners. The kitchen is fine for making meals. There's a small enclosed garden with artificial grass and a table. And there's a private hot tub out there.
You're on a working farm with beef cattle and sheep. The field behind the property goes straight up to Blencathra. The stairs inside are quite steep, just so you know.
The village pub is about three quarters of a mile away. Threlkeld is a mile away and has another pub. Keswick is about five miles. It's got all the shops, cafes, and a theatre. The Lake District National Park site is good for walking maps and advice.
For things to do, Blencathra is right there if you want a proper walk. Keswick is on Derwentwater if you want to mess about on the lake. You're close to the A66, so it's easy to get to Penrith one way or across to Ullswater the other way. Within half an hour you can be in Grasmere, or at the top of the Whinlatter Pass.
Facilities are all there: TV, parking, bedding and towels are included. There's no charge for electricity. No pets, sorry.
