Skiddaw House is on a street just off Keswick's main square. It's a terraced house, so you've got neighbours on either side, but it's quiet. It's a very easy, flat walk into town, about five minutes.
It sleeps eight in four bedrooms. There are three bathrooms, which is handy for a group that size. It's a 3 Star place, so it's clean and functional more than luxurious. It's over three floors, so there are a fair few stairs.
The location is the main thing. You can leave the car on the drive and walk everywhere in Keswick. The town has all the shops and pubs you'd need. The Theatre by the Lake is great if you want a show. You can hire rowing boats on Derwentwater from there.
For walking, you're right in it. Latrigg is practically on the doorstep for a shorter climb with big views. Catbells, Helvellyn, Skiddaw, Blencathra are all within a short drive. The roads can get busy in season.
Inside, it's got what you'd expect: a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a small patio garden out the back. Sorry, no pets.
