Thwaite Hill Cottage is in Seldom Seen, near Thornthwaite. It’s detached. As the name suggests, it's quiet and a bit tucked away, up on the slopes of Whinlatter.
The living room and kitchen are upstairs. That’s where the view is. You look out towards Skiddaw and Latrigg.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. There’s one bathroom. The whole place is clean and well kept, but it's a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable rather than luxury. You can bring two dogs.
It’s about a mile to Braithwaite. That’s where the nearest shop is, and a couple of pubs that do food. Keswick is four miles away for supermarkets and more places to eat. The drive into Keswick is straightforward.
You’re right on the edge of Whinlatter Forest, which is good for mountain biking or just a walk in the trees. There’s bicycle storage here if you bring bikes.
For a day out, the coast at St Bees or the quieter bit of the lake at Buttermere are both about a half hour drive. It’s a good base if you want to walk Skiddaw or Catbells.
Facilities are all here: WiFi, a washing machine, towels and bedding are included. There’s a woodburning stove for cooler evenings, and a cot if you need one. The garden is yours to use.
