Number 1 Greta Side Court is in Keswick town centre. It's flat block, old Pencil Mill converted into apartments. It's on the ground floor. You get a small balcony that looks out over the river and the park towards Skiddaw.
The apartment sleeps four, two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean, decent for the price. You'll hear the river from the balcony, which is nice.
The front door is right off the street, so you're in the middle of things. There's a shop, a pub, and a restaurant just up the road, all within a minute's walk. Handy if you don't want to drive.
For the main walks, you can be on the fells in ten minutes from the door. Latrigg is a good start. Castlerigg Stone Circle is a couple of miles out if you've got a car. Derwentwater is a fifteen minute walk, or five minutes by car. You can get the launches from there.
If the weather's bad, the Pencil Museum in town is a surprisingly good way to spend an hour. Honest. The Theatre by the Lake is on the lake shore for a show.
For a drive out, Thirlmere or Buttermere are within half an hour. Ullswater is about a twenty five minute drive. The National Trust page for the area is useful for planning.
