This is Derwent. It's a shepherd's hut on our farm in Millbeck. It's for two people. The rating is 3 Star, which is about right. It's clean and it works.
It's compact inside. There's a double bed, a small table with stools, and a kitchen area. The kitchen has a two-ring hob, a fridge, and a microwave. You can make a meal there. The shower room is proper, it's all fitted in.
The best bit is the big window. You look out over our fields towards the fells. You can see a bit of Derwent Water on a clear day. Outside the door there's a private area with a bench, it gets the morning sun. You can park right next to it.
The stairs up to the hut entrance are steep. There's a handrail. It's not suitable for everyone.
You're on a working beef and sheep farm. That means you'll hear and see the animals. There are walks you can do straight from the gate.
Keswick is about two miles away. That's where the shops, pubs, and the supermarket are. There's a local pub about a mile and three quarters down the lane. It's a half-hour walk, or a short taxi.
If you're driving, you're close to a lot. Derwent Water is just there for boats or walking. Catbells is nearby. The Lakes Distillery is about seven miles away at Bassenthwaite. For a bigger day out, National Trust Borrowdale and Lake District National Park have all the walking information you'll need.
It has a TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking. It's all on one level inside once you're up the steps.
We have another hut, Skiddaw, next to it. You can book both together if there are four of you.
