Haystacks
Haystacks is a bungalow up near the fells on the edge of Keswick. The views from the back are good, you can see across to the hills. It’s a semi, but you wouldn’t really know it. The rear garden is enclosed, which is handy if you’ve brought a dog.
It sleeps four and has two bedrooms and one bathroom. It’s a 3 Star place, so it’s clean and everything works, but you won’t find any luxury finishes. It’s a solid base. The kitchen is fine for making meals. There’s a washing machine. The garage is useful for storing bikes or wet gear.
You can walk into Keswick town centre in about ten minutes. That’s the real bonus. You can leave the car and just stroll down for a meal or to the shops. The convention centre is right below the property, so you might see people coming and going for events there.
The location is the main thing. You can start walks from the door. For a bigger day out, Skiddaw is right there, or you can drive to Borrowdale in ten minutes. There’s a local pub about half a mile away, but you’ve got all the pubs and restaurants in Keswick a bit closer on foot.
You can bring up to two dogs. There’s a cot if you need one. Bed linen is included. Parking is for two cars.
For planning days out, these are good: Lake District National Park and National Trust Lake District. Keswick’s own tourist information site is useful too.
