Garden Cottage

This is Garden Cottage in Threlkeld. It's a cottage, so it's old. We think it's from around 1700. It's on a south-facing slope looking up at Blencathra.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms: one double, two twins. There's one family bathroom upstairs. It's a 4 Star place, which means it's comfortable and has what you need.

The floor downstairs is the original stone, with beams. You come in through a utility bit, which is handy for boots and coats. The kitchen is open plan and has a dishwasher and a washing machine. There's a wood burner in the living room. The garden is enclosed and looks out towards the fells.

You're allowed one dog. The garden is secure for them.

There's a pub about three hundred yards away that does good food. The village has a coffee shop too. A proper shop is about five miles away in Keswick.

You can walk straight from the door. You can go up Blencathra, or there's an old railway path that's flat and good for cycling. Keswick is a ten-minute drive. They've got the Pencil Museum for a wet day, and you can get boats on Derwentwater. The A66 is right there, so it's easy to get to Penrith or over to Hadrian's Wall if you want a change from the lakes.

Facilities: everything in the list is there. The parking is on site. Bedding and towels are included. There's WiFi and a TV.
