River Cottage is in Keswick, a five minute walk from the shops and pubs. It's a stone cottage built the old way, so it's cosy. There's parking, which is a help here.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. One bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. The stairs are narrow and steep. They're cottage stairs. There's a stairgate at the top.
You get the garden out the back to yourselves. It's enclosed and private.
For facilities: there's a washing machine and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. They've put in a cot and a highchair. There's WiFi and a TV. The owners leave dressing gowns and a welcome basket.
Keswick is a good base. The town has everything you need. Derwentwater is about a ten minute walk from the cottage. You can get a boat from there.
For walking, you're right on the edge of the fells. Skiddaw is behind the town. Catbells is across the lake. For a wet day, the theatre by the lake is good. The National Trust has a few places nearby like Borrowdale. The Lake District National Park site is useful for planning.
No pets, I'm afraid.
