The Coach House

The Coach House is in Powter How, near Bassenthwaite Lake. It's a detached cottage, converted from an old coach house, set in the grounds of our main house. You've got your own garden and it's quiet.

It sleeps three. Two bedrooms, one bathroom downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable. The living space is all upstairs, which is open plan. The big window looks out over the fields towards the lake and Skiddaw. The stairs are fine, just a typical cottage staircase.

You're right on the edge of Whinlatter Forest. There are walking trails straight from the back gate. For mountain biking, the Whinlatter trails are a few hundred yards up the lane. You might see red squirrels in the garden if you're quiet.

Keswick is about a ten minute drive for shops and places to eat. The Lakes Distillery is about the same distance the other way. Cockermouth is maybe twenty minutes. The nearest pub is three miles, the nearest shop is four.

For facilities, there's parking, a woodburning stove, WiFi, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry. There's a bike store.

If you're planning trips, the Forestry England page for Whinlatter has trail maps. The Lake District National Park site is useful for wider planning.
