Rebecca Puddle Duck Cottage
Rebecca Puddle Duck Cottage is in Bassenthwaite village. It's a little one-bedroom place, part of an old farm courtyard, so we and some chickens are nearby. There's a stream out front where the ducks paddle about.
It sleeps two. One bedroom downstairs, and the living room, kitchen and bathroom are upstairs. The beams are low up there, so you'll need to duck your head when you go in. The parking space is right next to it.
The village pub is a couple of minutes' walk. They do food. For a proper shop, you need to drive to Keswick or Cockermouth, which takes about fifteen minutes.
You're in the Lake District National Park, but a quieter bit. Bassenthwaite Lake is a couple of miles away. Keswick and Derwentwater are about fifteen minutes by car. For walking, you can start from the door or drive a short way to places like Dodd Wood or the foot of Skiddaw.
A few things within twenty minutes or so: The Lakes Distillery does tours, Bassenthwaite Lake Station has a cafe in an old train carriage, and there's the Lake District Wildlife Park. Further out, within an hour, you've got Carlisle, Hadrian's Wall, and the Solway Coast.
It's got a 3 Star rating. That covers the basics: WiFi, TV, washing machine, parking. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog. We can provide a cot and highchair if you need them.
