Carrigbaun
Carrigbaun is one of the apartments in the old Swan Hotel in Thornthwaite. It’s a three bedroom place, sleeps six, with two bathrooms. It’s got a 4 Star rating. It feels modern inside, but the building itself is old, from the 17th century I think.
The main living area is open plan. There’s a big window looking out the back towards Skiddaw and over Keswick. The kitchen is a solid oak one with black marble tops. You get a decked area outside your door with a good view down the valley. There's also a shared garden for the development, which is kept nice, with a pond.
Thornthwaite is quiet. It's about three miles from Keswick. You can see Bassenthwaite Lake from here. There’s a shop and a couple of pubs in Braithwaite, which is very close. Keswick has everything else: supermarkets, places to eat, the Theatre by the Lake.
For getting out, you’re right next to Whinlatter Forest for walking or mountain biking. You can drive to the sailing on Bassenthwaite Lake. Keswick is the main hub for boat hires or trips on Derwentwater.
Included facilities: parking on site, WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are provided. There’s a cot if you need one. No pets.
