Apple Tree Cottage is in Bassenthwaite village. It's a terraced cottage, one of a few in a row. It sleeps four, with two bedrooms and one bathroom up the stairs. It's got a 4 Star rating.
The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have kids or a dog. There's an apple tree, as the name suggests. If the apples are ripe when you're here, help yourself. You'll see birds on the feeder, and we get red squirrels sometimes.
The Sun Inn pub is literally at the bottom of the garden. Go through the gate and you're there. It's a good one, does food and proper ales. Parking isn't right outside the door, it's a shared area about twenty seconds walk away.
For walks, you can start right from the door. Latrigg and Skiddaw aren't far if you want a bigger hill. Keswick is about eight miles away. That's where you'll find the main shops, a Booths supermarket, and the theatre by the lake.
About a five minute drive away, you've got two places. One is the Lakes Distillery. They do tours and have a restaurant. The other is the Lake District Wildlife Park, which is good for kids. Cockermouth is about seven miles, and the coast at Allonby is roughly seventeen.
Inside, it's been done up. There's a washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can put a cot and highchair in if you need them.
