Osprey Cottage is in Bassenthwaite. It's a 17th century place. We got it refurbished in 2021. It's got those old oak beams on the ceiling, which look nice. It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. One double room and one with full-size bunks. The rooms are a good size. You get a view over the fields from the upstairs windows, all the way south towards the lake.
The stairs are a bit steep and narrow. They're old cottage stairs. Just so you know.
Downstairs is all open plan. Living room, kitchen, dining area. There's an open fire. We leave some wood for you. You get a washing machine, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
There's no garden at the back. You can see a garden from the windows but it's not part of the cottage. You can park right outside.
You can bring two dogs. There's a wood straight behind the cottage. You see red squirrels up there sometimes, and birds. From the top of the wood you can see Skiddaw.
There are two pubs in the village, about a three quarter mile walk. Both do decent food. Keswick is about eight miles away. That's where you go for most of the shops and things like the theatre. Cockermouth is the same distance the other way. It's a quieter market town.
You're right in the Lake District National Park. Bassenthwaite Lake is close. For walking, you're near the Northern Fells. The National Trust has lots of places nearby. Lake District National Park website is good for planning.
That's about it really.
