Dalton Cottage is in High Side, a hamlet just outside Bassenthwaite. It's a detached stone cottage, so it's quiet. You've got your own garden with a patio. It's north-facing, so the garden doesn't get the sun all day, but the views out the front are over the fields towards the fells.
The place sleeps six. Three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. That's quite handy. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well-finished and comfortable. It feels solid, not flimsy.
You're right on the edge of Dodd Wood. You can walk straight out the door and into the woods. You might see red squirrels. The osprey viewpoint is up there too. Bassenthwaite Lake is about a forty minute walk across the fields, or a short drive.
The local pub is in Bassenthwaite village, about a mile and a half away. It's decent. Keswick is about six miles. That's where you'll find most of the shops, cafes, and the cinema. The Theatre by the Lake is there, right on Derwent Water.
If you want a day out, the Lakes Distillery is a couple of miles down the road. They do tours. The Lake District Wildlife Park is near there too. For walking, you've got Skiddaw and Blencathra on your doorstep. You don't really need to drive to start a good walk.
Facilities: it's got a woodburning stove, dishwasher, washing machine, wifi, and parking for two cars. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
