Acorn Lodge - Burnside Park

Acorn Lodge is on Burnside Park, about a ten minute walk from the centre of Keswick. It's a pine log cabin, one of several on a quiet site.

It sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's a 3 Star, so it's comfortable and clean but not luxurious. The private parking space is right in front.

The main thing is the view. The patio doors open onto a raised wooden terrace that looks directly out over fields towards Skiddaw and Latrigg. You can see the Helvellyn range in the distance. Swallows sometimes nest up under the eaves. There's a small brook just a few metres away.

Inside, it's all open plan. The furniture is Ercol, which is solid and comfortable. There's a good spot for hanging coats and walking boots. The bed has a pocket-sprung mattress. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over it.

There's a pub and a cafe a couple of minutes walk away. Both do food and are dog friendly. You can walk into Keswick from here, which means you don't have to drive in and look for parking.

For walking, you're right at the foot of Latrigg. The full climb up Skiddaw starts from nearby. Keswick itself has all the usual shops, pubs, and the lake.

Within about half an hour's drive you've got Borrowdale, Buttermere, and Ullswater. Grasmere and Ambleside are a bit further but still easily doable for a day out.

Facilities: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding is included. There's a cot if you need one. You can bring up to two dogs. The garden terrace is enclosed.
