Darci's Lodge
Darci's Lodge is a one-bedroom cabin on our farm in Scales. It's on the lower slopes of Blencathra. The view from the front, south-facing patio is across the valley. You'll get sun there most of the day.
It sleeps two. It's a 3 Star place, so it's clean and works well but it's not luxury. Everything is on one level except the bedroom, which is up a flight of stairs. Those stairs are a bit steep. The bathroom is small but it has a good shower. The whole ground floor is open plan.
You're on a working sheep farm. That means you'll see and hear farm activity during the day. The A66 road runs past the farm, so you'll hear traffic. It’s handy for getting around though. Keswick is about ten minutes' drive west. Penrith is about fifteen minutes east.
The villages of Scales and Threlkeld are close. There are a couple of pubs there that do food. Keswick Golf Club is right opposite the farm gate.
For walks, you can step out the door and onto the fells. Blencathra is right there if you're feeling ambitious. For a gentler day, Keswick and Derwentwater are good starting points. Latrigg is a popular short walk from there. If you drive, you can be at the foot of Helvellyn or Skiddaw in under half an hour.
The lodge has a washing machine, TV, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
